This situation occurs when the Microsoft converter tool opens a document in Privia through the converter. Since the converter doesn’t change the file extension to .doc but converts the internal format to the .doc 2003 format, the file now has the wrong extension.
To fix this situation, follow the steps below.
Note: If the document is to be used for commenting, this process will unlink all current comments.
- Using the Privia Platform Client or Enhanced Web Client
- Right click on the file and choose the option to "save as" in the context menu
- Save it to your desktop
- Change the document extension from .docx to .doc
- Open the file with Office 2007, or up
- Save the document and change the extension to .docx so that it converts the file and saves it in the newer format
- Upload the file to Privia to create a new version
