Only owners of the files are able to alter permissions on files and there are three different ways to set them:

When publishing a file

  1. While looking at the Publish File dialog, select the "Publish File Permissions near the bottom
  2. All current members of the work space will display with the default setting "All members can View, specific members can Edit"
  3. If the default setting is desired click "Ok", if not select the appropriate radio button and/or select check boxes to set desired permission settings, then click "Ok"
  4. Click "Ok" once more to finish publishing the file

On individual files

  1. Right-click on the file and select "Properties"
  2. Click the "Permissions" tab
  3. All current members of the work space will display with the default setting "All members can View, specific members can Edit"
  4. If the default setting is desired click "Ok", if not select the appropriate radio button and/or select check boxes to set desired permission settings, then click "Ok"
  5. These settings apply only to this file.  The only way these permissions can be overwritten is if they are modified in a one-shot action set on the folder level (explained in the section below)

At the folder level

  1. Right-click on the folder that has the file(s) to set permissions on
  2. Select "File Permissions" from the context menu
  3. All current members of the work space will display with the default setting "All members can View, specific members can Edit"
  4. If the default setting is desired click "Ok", if not select the appropriate radio button and/or select check boxes to set desired permission settings, then click "Ok"

**When setting file permissions at the folder level, please keep in mind that this functionality only applies to files in the folder that are owned by the file owner.  Also, this setting is intended to be a one shot cascading action; so, when uploading a new file to a folder (after permissions have been set), the file will not have the permissions that were set on the folder before.  When a new file is published to the folder, open the "File Permissions" dialog again and set the desired permissions to cascade the settings to all files that are currently in the folder.  If you prefer, you could set permissions at the folder level once and then set permissions when publishing a file, or on individual files as explained in the steps above.
